All Things Are Possible
Anyone who tells you to give up your desires isn't aware of the gravity of what we're facing today.
Do not fall for the lie that just because you cannot control every atom of matter that you are not in control of or that you cannot create or shape your life.
The artistic impulse is the fire of life itself. The imagination is spirit and God. We have God in us. We have imagination in us. We are possessors and potential wielders of a divine fire. It is our birthright. Nothing can put it out. Nothing can destroy it. Even when you don't know it's there, it is there.
You are always participating in an act of creation. Even if all you were producing is destruction and misery, adding blocks to your cell and neurosis to your experience, you're still creating! All things are possible.
Every set of laws is really a position or a place in time. A set of contingencies. Human beings today have been given many maps. But which ones are worth taking? We have to draw up our own maps. Discover our own territories.
All around me I see intellectualism. I see critics. I see analysis, I see theory and theorists. I see endless critiques. Endless philosophizing. I see endless diagnoses of the times we're living in. The times go by endless names . Philosophy has become toxic. At the end of the day, it is a form of entertainment - an overlay on reality. And that description of reality treats reality as though it is a body with a disease. Because it is always trying to fathom some republic for Sophia to live, and because it does not find a suitable one, it dreams forever of a better day that never comes.
There was no greater philosopher than Christ, who said that the kingdom of God is within you. Everyone else was trying to imagine some future kingdom of heaven. The kingdom of heaven is now. The imagination is now. God is now. The future is now. The past is now. The castle of memory and the palace of the future are married by desire and action.
Why fear torture or death when you have the eternal birthright of imagination pulsating within you? There is nothing anybody can do to you. There is no injection, there is no blade, there is no weapon that can hurt you. The only thing they can do is pierce your flesh. And hurt your pride. The flesh dies anyway. Your pride isn't real.
The things in this world that everyone is fearing, that are coming to us like an impending disaster - all of that can be overturned and destroyed this instant if only human beings would recognize the power of their intention. The power of their choice. The power of their creativity.
Every single thing, every single force, every single entity which you are afraid of can be broken down and destroyed in an instant if only you would realize what you carry inside of you.
Imagine with me for a moment that you chose this life. That you chose to live here in this time, in this particular stage of world events. You were able to see it ahead of time and say, yes, I want to be born in that time. I want to live through those events.
Imagine for a moment that you are incarnate in this particular moment because this is exactly where you want to be. You can make the choice to proceed onto the next moment. This next moment might be an entirely different situation. Or you can continue on doing what you're doing. They are both your choice either way.
It is not my place to condemn you or praise you for whatever moment you find yourself in. But you know why you are here. If you do not know why you're here, you have it within you to find out.
Some people want to know the deepest mysteries of the universe, of the cosmos. It might just be enough for you to figure out what you are doing in this moment. Knowing why you're doing what you are doing can move mountains. It makes stars fall from the sky.
There is no thing, no person, no object, no entity in this universe to fear. Nothing can destroy you. You are complicit in their very presence in your life. Everything you experience must resolve itself in you in some way. Even if that is only in the form of indifference. Or just passing along an image. Or some great task that you need to take on. Or something you must fix. Or something you must create. Or some idea that you need to express. Or some love you need to make. Everything that happens in your life has to resolve itself finally in your experience in some way. I'm not talking about solipsism.
Solipsism is a form of alienation, in which you think that you are the only thing that actually exists - that everything else is just fake, made up, and imaginary. I'm talking about something quite the opposite of that. Everything is very, very real. Everything has some kind of value in relation to everything else, but everything else must resolve itself finally in your experience in some way, as far as you're concerned. It is up to you, your free will. It's your free choice to decide how it's going to resolve itself. What are you going to pay attention to? What are you going to work on? What are you going to let pass through you? What are you going to ignore, look at, be entertained by, appropriate, be knowledgeable about? What and who are you going to love? What are you going to let affect and hurt you and damage you? Can those things not resolve themselves within you to make you stronger? Is this not possible?
All things are possible.
Your subconscious is not just a place where neuroses are born. It is a tool that can be used, just like your conscious mind, for practical tasks. You can delegate certain tasks to your subconscious. Plant an image in your mind of something you want to accomplish. Imagine every detail coming to pass. Imagine the fruits of it working out, along with the accompanying feeling of what it's like to achieve the feeling. You'll be surprised at how often all of your actions, without even thinking about it, and your life and the things around you start conspiring to make that thing happen. The faith of a mustard seed can move mountains.
There's so much talk today of people with undesirable attitudes and behavior having a 'victim mentality.' But a victim mentality is how most people operate, even when they don't realize they're doing it. To think that you are where you are by chance or accident is to be a victim to reality. To not take ownership of what you are feeling, to divide your desires up in different directions is to be a victim of reality.
Imagine for a moment, there is not two or three of you. There is only one of you. Without realizing it, many of us act as though there are two of us. When faced with two options, we're divided against ourselves.
We think 'I want this one thing but this other thing is going to make me look better or is going to be better accepted by society.'
Don't think for a moment that I am quite simply prescribing that you should choose the thing that is opposite of what society thinks.
No. I'm saying it is possible to take complete ownership of the strongest desire that you have. Trust your intuition. Follow and vibe with the feeling as far as you can.
Everything is productive. Everything generates something. Life is a wonderful and free gift.
We go out ahead of this. We see darkness. We mourn the past, we see death.
We are knowledgeable of what we cannot have.
All of these dark spaces can form a dwelling place of obsession that we can get lost in.
But the great irony, the great redemptive trick, is that these very things are also what trace the perimeters and highlight and give life to the fact that life is, in fact, a true gift.
It's free for the taking.
And you are free.
You are free fundamentally in a way that is beyond matter.
It doesn't matter if you are in a cell, it doesn't matter if you are on top of a mountain.
You are still free. You are free to imagine and to create.
We are dancers at the end of time. Dare to imagine with me that we are not living through the end of times.
We are not living in the end times or the end of history. But we are, in fact, the first people in the history of our species who ever truly lived.
What would that possibly look like? What enormous tasks would we have taken on in order to achieve that? And how big was our enemy? And how completely did we crush it?
Perhaps in the end, no matter what outer form that enemy took, we would have learned that it was an expression of something inside of us all along.
