When Boomers, Gen X and Millennials are All Dead
A zoomer pope? A zoomer WEF? A zoomer run military industrial complex?
I think it's funny that zoomers hate millennials. I don't much like them either but I don't think about it or worry about it much.
I didn't like millennials when they were in their prime. I never fit in with them in my 20s, which lasted from the mid 2000s to the mid 2010s (when then were still Gen Y before they got rebranded for the fake culture war).
I didn't like talking about bacon. I thought Arcade Fire was garbage. I alienated pick me girls who asked me if I considered myself nerdy by saying, ‘No, not at all.’
I didn't fucking pretend to like Dr. Who. I didn't run around acting like a character from The Office to get people to think I was funny. I didn't act cute for girls.
I found people in my generation passive aggressive, twee, cutesy, fake, try hard, hyper conformist, lacking in self awareness, fake deep, fake healthy, faux-spiritual and I hate using this word but pretentious.
I wouldn't care about zoomers except for the fact that at some point in their lives, my kids will probably have a zoomer for a boss.
What's a zoomer pope going to be like?
What about a zoomer WEF or WHO?
What's the zoomer military in the west like in comparison oh say to China’s zoomer military? I don't know these things. I don't pay attention.
What's a zoomer run Harvard going to be like?
A zoomer Wall Street?
When I was a child I developed a conviction that seemed crazy as I got older even though I continue to have it to this day.
None of this stuff is really going to be around. A zoomer pope? There might be one in name, sure, but it won't really be anything of distinction.
One of these upcoming generations are just not going to do anything. I know it.
There won't be some big revolution. They'll just be completely apathetic and won't feel the need to do anything ever again.
One can hope.
Society ‘breaking down’ is a Boomer, Gen X and Millennial phobia/phantasy.
I never hear anyone talk about this, but I think a lot of people forecasting for the future forget that Millennials, Boomers and Gen X won't be there.
They think that every time period will essentially have some version of these three generations, and lack imagination to the degree that they actually don't think it's possible that anything fundamentally new could come after.
I don't think anyone will remember the time we're living in.
Just as zoomers don't care all that much about who the Rolling Stones are, so generations of the future will look onto dying millennials in nursing homes and raise an eyebrow as they recall their favorite meme, their favorite ‘own’, the glimmer in their eye as they imagine the color revolution that could have been, opining to no one anymore.
And it's sad because no one wants to be lame to immediately succeeding generations, but the fact of the matter is that they always are. They always will be. Everyone gets their turn.
In a way I see a lot of what's happening today as a triumvirate fear of death by the three generations preceding millennials.
I mean, ultimately, zoomer Hamas and zoomer Israelis are going to do a majority of the killing of each other, with the go-ahead of millennial commanders, Gen X elders and Boomer bank rollers backing them. The warring zoomers are just waiting to be told what to do by the three generations that have meant the least to the world stage in like 200 years.
Where does this all end up once the triumvirate is gone? I don't know.
